[Yeah, by the look Noctis gives him, it's pretty clear he's not buying it. Dignified... there was nothing dignified about that. Though his future self more or less tried his best, it seemed. There are worse ways to look, or to die, probably.]

No idea. I just figured it was Niflheim fashion being extra weird. It didn't look like any Lucian clothes I'd seen.

[A lot of their garb was more modest, really. Even the kings mostly wore simple suits with a bit of fancy accenting, and half the time he could barely see the little crown in his dad's grey hair. Most of their flair goes into the weaponry, not clothing- their own fashion is meant to outlive them.]

He has this weird... wing... thing. On his arm. Just one arm! And it doesn't even do anything, just makes him look lopsided.

[Another scoff, more amused this time. It is annoying, but this quiet roast is pretty funny, and they could use the levity.]

How would you dress up the harbinger of the apocalypse? Something more colourful maybe?

Well I can't say I would know, but I certainly know what I wouldn't be caught outside wearing. Contrary to popular belief, I have standards now and again.

[Noctis smiles faintly and offers the wine back. He needs to slow down or he actually will fall asleep.]

Sorry, I just don't have any clever teasing in me when it comes to you.

[He'd definitely be taking a drink, though.]

See, that? Right there? That's too nice. I don't even know what the hell to say to something like that.

[Despite the words his tone is only half-heartedly begrudging; such a comment shoots right for the heart, and he's quieter than before, sinking down into the couch cushion and pressed more firmly against Ardyn's side.]

[He hugged Noctis' shoulders a little more tightly, laughing softly.]

[Noctis falls into a comfortable silence for a long moment afterwards; it might almost seem like he's drifting, with so much of the wine consumed; on good days his tolerance is mixed at best, and this has not been a good day. But finally he reaches up to take the wine back, draining another swig.]

...Will you be okay? I mean... for real. No bullshit.

...Honestly? I don't know--maybe. I'm far better with you and the others here, I know that much.

What about you? Will you be alright?

[It's as honest as Ardyn's response, and equally noncommittal. Seems there's no easy way to tell.]

Maybe, eventually. As okay as someone can get when it comes to this kind of thing. [He purses his lips tightly, reluctant for a long moment before finally adding,] I wish... we could choose. I'd feel better about it if it was my decision, but it's not. Not really.

[Given the "choice" between sacrificing himself and abandoning the world to darkness, it isn't a true choice at all.]

[Ardyn sighed, tilting his head to lean against Noctis'. It really was just painfully unfair, and had been for too long.]

So do I. I don't think it wrong, to wish for something like that.
