It was out of frustration that I spoke, and were I afforded the opportunity to more carefully evaluate my words no doubt I would have communicated my thoughts a bit less aggressively.
It is neither you nor is it House Caelum itself that I bear ill will for. You and they alike have nothing to fear from me, and I merely have a great deal of things I need to make some attempt to process before moving onward.
While it is my sincere hope you can accept my apology for our conflict, I will understand should this be met with no response. All the same, please take care of yourself.

[So, Noctis gets the text, of course. And ignores it immediately when he sees who it's from. No thank you, not in the mood. He wouldn't feel too inclined to read it even on a good day, based on their last interaction, and he sure has hell isn't now, with the gutwrenching news he just received from Cor. He's holed up in his room at Prompto's place trying to ignore everything until his head stops spinning, until his heart calms down.
Eventually he reads it. Then he reads it again. Then he ignores it again for a while.
Finally, though, Ardyn receives a simple and somewhat cryptic reply:]

I have been made aware of how easily misinterpreted my appearance can seem, and so to clarify:
My egg is an egg that is mine, but not of my body.
My kind reproduce identically to humans.
It is a big, mysterious egg that is not of a Chocobo nor a dragon.
It likes being held, and the sound of voices. It is very cute.
I think even if whatever hatches is something objectively horrific that it will still be very cute.

[ She does not know all of which he's recently experienced, but she does know that it's been one negative event after the next. Weighted blankets are meant to be comforting and securing, but whatever has cloaked him is heavier than a field of iron. She wants to help without prying, she wants to give him space-- which she has-- but it's always with a heavy feeling within her chest that she happens to catch his expression whenever he's not paying attention. He's getting better, but such things don't fix themselves overnight.

[ After another simple but satisfying day of working as a lab assistant, she returns to their house thinking only of what she might make for dinner for the other two who live there before they return. [The night of their talk about Ignis, Noctis is still admittedly conflicted. He'd made it through most of the King's Knight session just fine, which had helped a little, there's no denying that, and he'd done his best to put on a brave front. He'd even tried the Thief class with daggers equipped as sort of an homage to Ignis, but partway through he'd had to quit and switch back to Knight because it was both frustrating and too achingly nostalgic to really cheer him up. They'd played for hours, long enough to get his fill and at least for a while take his mind off of things. It was nice, and that part he wasn't faking at all.
Dinner had been a little more of a somber affair, and after it was over he'd excused himself and retreated to his room, intending to sleep, and then just... didn't. Couldn't, really. He's received enough mysterious packages that he can already make a few guesses once he finds out it's for him. Judging by the size and shape... well, okay, it's just a big square box, so it could be anything. But he's curious, so once the exchange is complete he immediately heads to the opposite end of the box and lifts it up to push it through the doorway on its side. It feels heavy...]

[It's rare that Noctis wakes early - even rarer that he's up earlier than Pyra - and whatever it is that roused him has him too upright and conscious to get back to sleep, so instead he extracts himself from the bed and goes to make the most of his time. She likely won't be far behind, so... maybe she might like breakfast to be waiting for her? He's a little hungry, himself.
