thats a lot of crossover though. except bahamut's not a god but an actual dragon, and the same thing for our snake...

maybe it's a language thing? like our worlds somehow just share the same old tongue. that'd be cool

Bahamut the Dawn Wyrm was killed, then brought back as a Primal god.

The Dreadwyrm Bahamut brought about a Calamity, destroying much of my homeland and permanently altering the environment.

The Dawn Wyrm was apparently very kind and loving, caring immensely for his brood. Nothing at all like the god that was made in his image.

It is not impossible that your world is a parallel Shard of my realm. There are more similarities than mere names.

[Oof, that sounds painfully personal. Mayhaps he'll just refrain from the whole... Bahamut stuff. He'd feel awfully callous talking about the apparent guardian of their family knowing another world's word association like that. Like if Era told him she was besties with an Iedolas.]

One group's efforts to safeguard the life that yet remained on their dying world resulted in said world fracturing into fourteen pieces. Fourteen worlds, filled with life and love and potential.

One Shard was lost to Darkness. Seven others were utterly destroyed in the process of Rejoining with the Source shard. Yet another was very nearly lost to Light.

The Source and its remaining Shards are my charges. I exist to safeguard the precious life upon them as best I can, no matter the cost to myself.

My initial belief was that your world was one of my Shards. I know now that belief isn't wholly accurate, but in my heart of hearts I cannot shake the feeling that your world is connected to mine in some way.

this is probably the kind of stuff ardyn or aera are better for, somnus too. where I'm from we don't know that much about the origins of the world, most of it was lost bc the gods destroyed Solheim

The Old World was lost over twelve-thousand years ago. It was the creation of the first gods that both saved and shattered their star.

Time flows differently between each Shard and the Source. A few weeks on one could be a few years on another, or a few years could be a century.

There are only a small number of people across the Shards that know more than one world even exists, and even less who know of their origins. My partner is more well-versed in the matter than myself.

when we found her she didn't seem bothered about getting stuck in our world, just dragged us into this "quest" she had about stopping a bunch of goons from summoning a god. the imperials had a teleporter she said linked up to her world or something so they must've all come through

The imperials would be of the Garlean Empire. The 'goons' would be one of the Beast Tribes.

Of course it would be someone of the Y tribe to stumble across such a thing...

The Miqo'te. Though they have no relation to cats, and oft find the comparison offensive. The one you met would have been a Seeker of the Sun.

oh shit yeah thats the word she used! they aren't real on Eos, they're in storybooks and video games. i played one in an online game for a while

the imperials were OUR version, from niflheim. it was in their base. the beastmen were there though, they were trying to summon a god called garuda

There is a Garuda of my world. The Lady of the Vortex.

I told Ardyn that your Hexatheon makes no sense — it has no balance within it. All the fundamental elements save for wind are represented. Either Bahamut should have been of wind, or your Hexatheon should be an Octatheon, with Bahamut having a counter-deity of Darkness to his Light.

That is not the strangest thing I've ever heard.

I don't know about any god of darkness, and garuda doesn't exactly exist in Eos, but we found a statue that resembled her in the base. the nifs were researching it. Ignis said it was a messenger of the winds that was lost to time.

we didn't think much of it but while we were fighting garuda I heard a voice in my head and it was that same messenger forging a covenant with me. when she showed up to help us, they looked a lot alike.

What difference is there between an messenger and an Astral?

talking to the Astrals directly is really painful, not sure most people could survive it even if they could understand the language

Messengers are just what it sounds like- servants of the gods used to send messages from them to the people. they're the counter to the Oracle who speaks to the gods for humans.

...Odd. Primals can speak the same as you or I, or any other mortal.

yeah, that tracks. when Garuda spoke to us she used our language, and it was normal

Astrals have their own language, and it's awful. feels like an earthquake in your head. talking with messengers usually doesn't hurt, so it's safer.

It is fortunate you were not Tempered by her.

That is still very odd. I wonder if the Echo would make such communication painless?

idk about that, but if our worlds are linked then maybe some of the magic's compatible too. either way I can't recommend it.

When one's will is subjugated by the will of a Primal. They become naught but mindless pawns who seek only to do what their god bids of them.

If something contains a soul, the Echo translates it into language I understand. You could speak in a foreign language to me and I would understand it, and in return you would hear me speak your language.

In short it is a universal translator. My soul understands the intent of the other's, and in turn gifts me with that understanding.

huh. if she tried to do that on us, it didn't work. sure sounds like how the beastmen acted, though, they seemed weirdly devoted.

the pain of talking to Astrals isn't from the language but from the gods themselves. I don't think the echo would change that part by translating.

If she sensed the covenant of another deity upon you she may not have even bothered to try. She may not have bothered to try regardless, as she is the Primal most lacking in, shall we say... sanity.

How strange. If not the language, then their voices? If it is a matter of sound, I would likely be at a severe disadvantage with my horns. If it is a matter of godly influence, the Echo does offer protection against such things.
