Hades enjoyed wine a great deal. He would Create different kinds for me to try with him, both with and without the taste of various poisons. I liked the sweet fruit wines best, so that is the kind I make. I'm glad you like it, too!ヽ(∀° )人( °∀)ノ
I suppose I worry at times that he may resent me. What did I do to deserve the salvation he was denied? I know it's just me being a dumbass though.
Fleche is an ability used by red mages. Six large blue swords of aether materialize above me in a fan shape, then launch themselves at a single point.
The Convocation of Fourteen failed to save their world. It was then fragmented into fourteen pieces 14,000 years ago.
I held the fourteenth seat in the Convocation, and am now the appointed guardian of what remains.
It's such an arbitrary number and yet it's everywhere I look lol (ಠ__ಠ)
I actually once helped make a sword that could talk. Or rather a sword and a variety of other weapons that could contain a pseudo-soul I forged with my aether. His name is Anima. He is very sweet, and loves protecting me. Gerolt and Ardashir helped fashion him a cute little mammet to inhabit so he can explore things properly all his own now. 💖
But for normal weaponry — swords especially — you can tell by the song they sing when you've wielded them oft enough. With a good spirit bond you've a happy blade. ☺️⚔️
Even in physical form it's moody? I wonder if Yaksha would let me use it for a few minutes if I ask politely and explain my request. Admittedly my desire is purely selfish, so even aside from the royal possessiveness it wouldn't surprise me if it got pissy.
if it's any consolation i would not remember either
with or without poison so you'd be able to tell if some1 was trying to kill u?
yeah thats u bein a dumbass for sure, stop that. i kinda get it tho, its hard not 2 feel like the lucky one sometimes. i dont LIKE izunia but i can get why hed hate me for kind of being his replacement u know? but yeah ur a dumbass ardyn wouldnt hate u, he doesnt even hate me
o shit thats cool. so kinda like the armiger then but w/ different limits. red mage uses magic swords?
lol ok yeah i can see why that would start to get eerie after a while. maybe 14 is significant in some way & we just dont know it ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌ i cant think of anything in eos that would make it an important number. dad or cor might know better
whaaat the hell, a talking sword sounds awesome. unless it was an asshole i guess, then it would suck 2 use it... idk what a mammet is but ngl i love the idea of a sword going off on its own little world adventure lol
the song they sing huh. idk about that, but royal arms def have a real resonance that i can feel, 100%. like it feels different when i use the mystic err yaksha, and the wise, and my dads sword. the founder, my first, dad... i can see why theyd connect stronger to me than normal weapons, or even the other arms. using them became rly instinctive over time, like it felt more natural to call on them even more than my own. its kind of weird but it also felt right, idk how to explain it
maybe moody is giving it too much credit, but they are like... soul-bonded for lack of a better word?? like theyre a part of me in a way normal weapons wouldnt be, theyre not just in the armiger they ARE the armiger, if that makes sense. it would be like me asking u to let me use ur carbuncle kind of. i can pet it but i cant use it the way u can bc its part of u right? carbuncle is ur aether and the arms r my magic, its hard to just give that to someone else
plus im not supposed to use them more than i have to, tho i do kind of break that rule all the time
Yes and no. I was more concerned with being drugged and left vulnerable than being killed. The Echo can warn me of impending death, but it cannot warn me of kidnapping and torture. If such a thing were to happen the Eorzean Alliance would be severely compromised.
Not hatred — resentment. You can love someone wholeheartedly and still feel the burn of resentment at times.
Red mages use rapiers with a focus orb that can be attached to the hilt, turning it temporarily into a staff. We maintain a balance between black and white magicks, and the rapier we channel our spells through becomes charged with residual magic, allowing us to assault our targets with a flurry of empowered melee attacks. It's very fun. Flashy, and a little acrobatic.
It wasn't the sword itself that spoke, but a... spirit? When he came out of my weapon his form was akin to an elemental; a faerie-like creature with no discernible features for how brightly he glowed. He liked it best inside my grimoire, as he is fond of Carbuncle. I should carve a replica of his traveling form. I haven't thought of him in an age, but I miss him.
Sometimes the way my weapons feel sounds like music, but the way I experience sound is different than people who have ears. Hades once compared it to how you sound to yourself when you speak vs. how you sound when you hear a recording of yourself.
My worlds have a concept known as 'spirit bonding'. The more you use weaponry or wear an item, the more your soul's aether will imprint upon it. An item with a high spirit bond will only reach its full potential when used by the one its bound to.
I believe I understand what you're trying to say, but am a bit confused. Is Rakshasa not part of Ardyn's armiger? When I used it it was just like any other sword.
And while you wouldn't have the connection I do with my Carbuncle, if you wish to borrow it one day for a spar you're welcome to ask! I can request it obey your commands for a time. And if something happens where you're in need of help, if Carbuncle is there and I am elsewhere, you can give it commands and it should aid you without question. It can be aloof at times, but it exists to safeguard myself and others. You and your family will always be a high priority to it.
How do you fight if you're not supposed to use your weaponry?
i mean you being kidnapped or tortured would also be bad, nevermind the alliance (◣_◢) but ya that makes sense.
ok resentment then, ur still a dumbass
dont think ive ever used a rapier, my fighting styles always been more dodges and big hits bc thats what gladio was good at and he taught me. rapiers seem more delicate speed, stabby-stabby-dodge. cool but not rly in line with the family tradition if u get me. daggers are stabby-stabby-dodge but in a different way & thats as close as i get i think
idk if we have anything like spiritbond outside of the royal arms. like stuff goes in the armiger but its not like BONDED, just uhhh infused w/ our magic basically. we can sell those weapons & replace them with better gear and it's just as good as we can use it, it doesnt get stronger over time, only we do
let me think, how 2 explain... theres a difference between the royal arms & the armiger. the royal arms are IN the armiger 4 me, but lots of things can go in the armiger for all 3 of us. like dad probably puts potions and coffee in there & ardyn has wine, i stored my fishing rod, etc etc. most stuff in the armiger is just a normal object we can call in and out. but i didnt put a royal arm into my armiger, it put ITSELF there and thats where it stays now. so i cant just call one out and put it back where i found it or hand it over to someone else to use. i tried b4! after i got a couple we camped & played around w/ it for a while. the sword kept noping itself back into the armiger when someone else held it, like it was pouting ―(T_T)→
as for ardyn, i cant say 100% bc hes a special case, so normal rules might not apply 2 him, right? royal arms are the weapons of past kings who died, their power becomes the soul of the weapon & i inherit that when i claim the arm. but ardyn wasnt king & he never died, so rakshasa is part of his armiger but its not a royal arm
oh shit i didnt know that about carbuncle hahaha. nice. id feel bad if i sparred w/ it tho!! its so cute... even if its aether and can come back theres no way. i think if i was in trouble & carbuncle was there id just be like go get era!!! bc youd want 2 kick the ass of whatever-it-is too
i can use my weapons! its just the royal arms i have to be careful with. like i said using them too much will kill me lol
Being tortured would suck but the Scions and I worked so hard to reunite the Alliance. If the Empire caught me I'd undoubtedly be experimented on and used as political leverage, which would create a major shitestorm even with Garlemald in such disarray. (」°ロ°)」
At least I can take comfort in the knowledge that I'm not the biggest dumbass I know.
Rapiers are definitely more delicate speed. Generally I prefer heavy hitting blades if I'm not using my magic, but red magic is a wonderful amalgamation of magic and bladework. Rapiers are built for quick slices and thrusts, focusing on taking advantage of any weak points in armour — namely chainmail and where plate armour overlaps for mobility. A properly aimed stab to the underarm can fell a man in full plate armour, which is not nearly as cathartic as whacking them with a blade as large as myself is still very satisfying.
So your armiger is more akin to my inventory whereas the royal arms are akin to bloodline magic, and the armiger doesn't need the royal arms, but the royal arms need the armiger? And if you've 113 ancestors, are there 113 weapons to choose from?
That makes sense, I suppose. Or as much sense as anything does with Ardyn's peculiar circumstances. Though he did die and is, technically, still dead... As are a majority of the people I've been closest to in this world, now that I think of it.
Oh, I didn't mean sparring against it. If you happen to spar against a friend, a Carbuncle unexpectedly body slamming them may make for an enjoyable change of pace and a brilliant opening. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
I hope you don't take too much offense to this, Noct, but your ancestral arms are kind of shite. 'Here, have this incredibly useful and amazingly cool skill! Oh and by the way it fuels itself by eating your lifespan!' Whichever deity signed off on that one needs to be fired.
is torture just a thing in empires?? I saw some rly effed up shit in gralea when we were doing a rescue. unless the citadel has some secret basement no one told me abt. god i gotta ask dad and cor now… dont want that in my lucis
i get the feeling iggy would be good at rapiers. pinpointing weaknesses and getting in and out rly quick is his whole thing. i can only keep up with him bc i can warp and phase
yeah thats pretty spot on 4 armiger and arms. technically it's all bloodline magic but we can give ppl access to armiger and not arms… it's kinda messy but it works 4 us. most of the royal arms have been lost or destroyed but ya theres been 1 per king. 13 is all we could find in the months we were able to go looking
maybe it has 2 be both together, dead + royal, and it cant be half-assed? hell for all i know rakshasa could b a royal arm and we just dont know it. i wouldnt want to try tho, that could take it away from ardyn and no one would like that
ohhh ok ok ya that makes sense. lol send carbuncle to my next training session w/ cor i would love to see him get tackled
im not offended or anything. in part ur not wrong, it isnt super ideal. but i get a lot of power with or without the arms, like from the crystal and the covenants… the arms are more like special attacks than every day use. anyway theyre better than the ring. at least w/ the arms potions can undo the damage, meanwhile the ring is like nah just age fast and die young & u cant do anything about it and also ur veins are on fire now die mad about it
mfw I realize my dumb self has been saying 12,000 instead of 14,000 ......
I suppose I worry at times that he may resent me. What did I do to deserve the salvation he was denied? I know it's just me being a dumbass though.
