[ She exclaims his name suddenly as an idea occurs to her. ]

That's perfect!

[ She squeezes his hand, insistent. ]

That's how you can be pulled from falling into a memory. Ear scritches! Because I doubt anyone in those memories had ears like that, so it would be a perfect way to ground you!

[ Marvel at her logic, because it is ~~flawless~~. ]

[That... makes him quirk a brow. Really...?]

I don't wear the glamour all the time, though... mostly it's in the closet, actually. I'm not gonna turn myself into a miqo 24/7.

[Like. On one hand, really cute idea! On the other hand, the required execution is mortifying.]

[ A... miqo....? Not a cat? Maybe she had this wrong the entire time. ]

[ It would be a treat for the both of them! He gets ear scritches, she gets to pet them and call him extra-cute. ] Oh, by the way... what is a miqo?

Oh, I mean miqo'te. It's... I guess in my world it's a video game race, but apparently it's a real thing in Era's world. They're like cat people, kinda. Ears and tail, slitted eyes and little fangs.

Ah, so this glamour was of a miqo'te, not a cat. [ She nods to herself, filing that away. It wouldn't do well to erroneously refer to such ears as anything but miqo-esque now!

It reminds her, just a bit, of how the Gormotti in her world have such feline-like ears. Perhaps they're a video game race in another world...? ] Was it King's Night? That video game, I mean.

No, it's an older game. I think that was... Last Legend XIV? Yeah that sounds about right. It was an online game, I played one for a few months.

An online game... [ She repeats thoughtfully, then: ]

Did any of your video games have a race called Nopon?

[carbungle]

[He considers for a moment - he's played a lot of video games, and a lot of them were arcades where he's real vague on the lore - before shaking his head.]

That's a nope on the nopon. What's that?

[iustaegis]

Oh, one of the sentient races in my world. Round, small, with long, prehensile ears, and big round eyes. [ She speaks of them fondly. ] Not only are they adorable, they're also intelligent and crafty.

[ She's reminded of the one person who appeared in her world a month prior, a robot who had been designed by a Nopon. ]

I-- ah, I was only wondering if maybe one of my world's races had appeared in your world's video games.

[carbungle]

[...those sound... really cute...]

That would be kind of weird, wouldn't it? To hear that you might be something fictional on another world?

[The miqo'te woman hadn't seemed to mind when it came up in their conversation, and Era took it in stride, but you never know what a person is going to think about such a subject. It's not a feeling he can understand personally, though, since humans appear to be literally everywhere.]

A little, yes.

[ She won't disagree with him on that, although she finds it far more interesting than it would be disturbing to her.

She nudges him gently with an elbow. ]

Just imagine, Noct, all the designs and NPCs you put into King's Knight... Those could actually be real people in some world out there.

[carbungle]

[That makes him exhale a soft huff of laughter.]

That might be even more weird. Like- would they know I made them? Is it just a coincidence? If we met, would I have to fake it and pretend I don't know anything? And then I'd wonder if I was in someone else's video game...

[iustaegis]

[ She doesn't know the answers to such questions, but she has to stop herself from bursting into a fit of giggles. The point of this is to have a little bit of fun with imagination. ]

Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your newfound fatherhood of many characters. [ Many. People. They would be real, hypothetically. ]

Most of those NPCs are older than I am. Not sure how I feel about being Junior Dad.

[Perhaps a bit like his own father feels here in town, with an adult son more than half as old as he is.]

[ With the main NPC in their version of King's Knight being a prince in need of rescuing-- ] You could impart all of your princely wisdom! And combat techniques. Who knows, maybe he'll even be able to save himself from dragons in the future.

[THE RESCUED PRINCE IS NOW HIS SON--]

Insidias Lucis Caelum doesn't sound half bad.

[ OH NO NOW SHE HOPES THIS OC OF HIS WILL APPEAR-- ]

We'll welcome him into the family with open arms.

[He makes a thoughtful noise.]

I don't know if I can handle that kind of responsibility. I hear being a dad is a lot of work.

[He never even got to do the marriage part... though maybe he'd best lean away from that part of it, lest this become less jokey of a conversation.]

[ She smiles, keeping the conversation still light. ]

Well, if you don’t end up telling him, [ Hypothetically, anyway, since his character in question isn’t here. ] you could always just be his friend.

[ Not that one cannot be both a father and a friend, but. ]

You’re good at that, you know.

So you keep saying. It's weird... I never used to be.

[In the last year or so - here, and on Eos - he's managed to connect with people in ways he struggled so much with while living in Insomnia. Seems that it really was the crown that always held him back.]
